Abstract:Abstract: Adopting a qualitative case study method, this study investigated the emotional experiences of five university French teachers in their professional lives. Interviews with the participants revealed that they experienced mixed emotions including love, joy, surprise, sadness, anger and fear through interactions with contextual factors including students, colleagues, teaching, research, and professional ranking. These findings may offer implications for further research into language teacher emotions, and also implications for teachers’ professional promotion, teaching evaluation and collegial collaboration in similar contexts.
