Abstract:Abstract: In order to explore the mechanism of intercultural communication teaching on science and engineering undergraduates’ psychological capital, this research, based on the cognition of Chinese undergraduates, applied the method of interview and two scales were developed. One is the scale of Chinese undergraduates’ psychological capital consisting of the dimensions of self-efficacy, hope, resilience and optimism, and the other is the scale of intercultural communication teaching consisting of the dimensions of global perspective of cultivation, knowledge transmission and cultural adjustment. Then, the driving impact of intercultural communication teaching on science and engineering undergraduates’ psychological capital was tested through a questionnaire. The results showed that global perspective of cultivation had a positive influence on self-efficacy and optimism, intercultural knowledge transmission and cultural adjustment had a positive influence respectively on self-efficacy, hope, resilience and optimism, and intercultural knowledge transmission had the strongest impact on the building up of science and engineering undergraduates’ psychological capital. These findings contribute to explaining the necessity of intercultural communication teaching among science and engineering undergraduates and providing new methods of building up undergraduates’ psychological capital.
