Abstract:Abstract:In recent years, the rise of linguistic interface theory offers a new choice for the interpretation of focus and topic structure, which is the relevant research of phonology-syntax interface. Studying the focus and topic structure from the phonology-syntax interface can not only provide a new explanation for semantic prominence and expression of information, but also confirm that the information communicative function of language cannot be separated from the phonological and syntactic calculation process. The purpose of this paper is to initiate and introduce the linguistic interface theory, especially the Minimalist Program and the phonological constraints of Optimality Theory, so as to explore the different ways of expressing and interpreting the English and Chinese focus and topic, and finally provide a new theoretical approach to explain the information structure of languages, and thus open a new vision for the study of focus and topic structure.
