Abstract:Abstract: Coetzee’s novels always focus on language problems. Coetzee makes an essential analysis into language through novels, which forms a unique literary-critical discourse. This unique discourse has probed into the relationship between history and language, and challenged the idea and writing concept of traditional mainstream literature. For further elaboration of ethical value and historical significance of Coetzee’s novels, this article, looking through the linguistic lens to analyze an individual case proceeding from the characters’ language consciousness, body narratives to the silence space, reveals the quality of historical and instrumental use of language, historical resistance and historical reproduction within Coetzee’s novels. It is hoped that this study would enrich the theoretical research of the language in Coetzee’s novels.
