Abstract:Time and space are two attributes of discourse, and discourse temporal-spatial dynamics has become more complex thanks to the rapid development of information technology. Drawing on theories of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) and postulating that language constructs re¬ality, ecological analysis of discourse examines discourse to uncover the impact of language on ecology and environment. Based on the evolutionary typology of systems from SFL and via con¬crete case analysis, this paper defines discourse as an eco system of meaning and adopts an evo¬lutionary approach to the analysis of temporal-spatial dynamic discourse. Such an approach can help us better understand the pattern of change in discourse in quantitative terms and expand the linguistic functions of ecological analysis of discourse.
