Abstract:Abstract: The present study explores the influence of teacher’s teaching and students’ learning on the autonomous learning ability of non-English major undergraduates from the pedagogical angle. By applying the multiple linear regression method, an analysis has been made of how the various elements constituting teacher’s teaching and students’ learning as well as the interaction among these elements and background variables like sex and disciplines influence students’ autonomous learning ability. The results show that while both teacher’s teaching and students’ learning have a significantly positive effect on students’ autonomous learning ability, the effect of students’ learning on students’ autonomous learning ability is bigger than that of teacher’s teaching; and the effect of teaching and learning in the classroom on female students is bigger than on male students. The results provide some empirical suggestions and reference for further deepening the College English teaching reform and improving the autonomous English learning ability of non-English major undergraduates through teacher’s teaching and students’ learning.
