Abstract:Abstract: Descriptive adverb is a difficulty in Japanese teaching and acquisition. Therefore, it’s significantly instructive to clarify the acquisition mechanism. Based on the analysis of classification tree, we explored learners’ comprehension process of Japanese synonyms “kanarazu” and “zehi”, as well as the influence on acquisition brought by the different relationship between these two Japanese synonyms and Chinese adverb “yiding”. The results suggest that learners comprehend “kanarazu” and “zehi” through context. It’s easier to acquire them in a “desire” context which is obviously marked. The usage of “yiding” with person is most likely to transfer. It’s easy to acquire a different usage, while a similar one is relatively hard to acquire, even though it’s obviously marked. In order to reconstruct learners’ target language, teachers should elicit their noticing by feedback and explicit instruction to promote learners' cognitive comparison between their mother tongue and target language.
