Abstract:Abstract: An analysis has been conducted, in the light of the Intratextuality Hypothesis using a specialized mini corpus consisting of 177 English translations of the first chapter of Daodejing, on meaning construction process both in the source text and its English retranslations, and to capture their commonalities as well as distinctive features through close observation on the strong patterns and their variations. At the same time, also put on verification is the feasibility of the Intratextuality Hypothesis, together with a brief discussion on the application and limitation of the Retranslation Hypothesis.
