Abstract:Abstract: The relationships between the observer (including human beings and animals) and the environments around him/her/it can be explored by examining the relationships between the observer’s perception of the environments and his/her/its subsequent actions. This paper utilizes J.J. Gibson’s Theory of Affordance and Wang Yangming’s Learning of the Heart-mind by looking at issues related to ecolinguistic studies. We argue that in any interaction the observer’s perception of the environment leads to his/its action(s) as a consequence, which shows the consistency of the observer’s cognition or perception and his/her/its related actions. Therefore, it is argued that in ecolinguistic studies the interactive relationship between the observer’s perception of the environment and his related action(s) should be emphasized.
