Abstract:Abstract: The translation continuation task is an effective means to improve translation skills, and translators’ agency is an important factor in translation. However, there is a lack of studies examining the effect of the translation continuation task on translators’ agency. To fill this gap, the present study explored the effect of the translation continuation task on translators’ agency in different word classes processing through the comparison of the translations of adjectives, nouns and verbs between the translation continuation task group and the translation non-continuation task group. Results showed that i) the translation continuation task exerted more influence on translators’ agency in the processing of the adjective than that of the noun and the verb, and that ii) the translation continuation task significantly enhanced translators’ agency. The findings indicate the alignment effect of the translation continuation task on translator’s agency, only this effect varies with different word classes.
