Abstract:Abstract: The ever-developing information and communications technology (ICT) brings both opportunities and challenges to the innovation of foreign language teaching and research. Based on existing literature, typical cases and CALL practice, this paper reviews the changes of foreign language teaching in the use of technology, teaching paradigm, views of language, and principal teaching objectives etc. It also summarizes the forms and features of three major types of innovative CALL, explores the cognitive-affective, practical, and socio-cultural connotations of foreign language teaching literacy, and points out CALL research focuses and trends. This paper may offer implications on further integration of ICT and foreign language teaching as well as future research in this field.
