Abstract：Abstract: From the perspectives of local regional view, national and ethnic awareness, and mysterious narrative, this paper intends to reveal the differences in two writers’ eco-writings and explore the particularity and the complexity in ethnic discourses of the ecological texts by Erdrich and Guo Xuebo. The analysis shows that Erdrich’s eco-writing has a deep ethnic emotion and keeps breaking through the boundaries between race and geography, and finally goes to the self exploration of the metaphysical ecology; whereas Guo Xuebo’s pure ecological criticism dimension reflects the anxiety and criticism to the survival of national modernization. With the distinct senses of ethnic identity and national mission, Guo Xuebo dominates the individualized experience of the fate of ethnic minorities. As far as rhetoric aesthetic is concerned, Erdrich restates his concern to ethnic identities via mythology and its rewriting and simultaneously, his open rewriting style and postmodern skills strengthen the aesthetic tension. Guo Xuebo’s dismystifying mythological narrative not only emphasizes the ideological function, but also intensifies the aesthetic quality.
