Abstract Abstract: This article is a record of the dialogue between Professor Sun Youzhong and Dr. J. M. Bennett, in which they discussed the relationship between intercultural education and foreign language education as well as between higher education in general, and proposed some effective ways of implementing intercultural education in the whole process of teaching in the context of globalization. During the dialogue, Dr. Bennett also explained how to apply the DMIS model in intercultural communication research, and introduced the mission of the Intercultural Communication Institute as well as the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale developed by her team. Professor Sun pointed out that foreign language education in China should move toward intercultural education so as to cultivate high-level global-minded talents. Their insights not only could call for some reflections on the direction of foreign language education reform, but also would shed light on furthering intercultural communication studies.
