Abstract：Abstract: It is generally recognized that language and politics are inseparably related. This article tries to clarify the related theoretical issues in view of the disciplinary establishment of Political Linguistics. The article maintains that Political Linguistics should find its home in General Linguistics as a sub-discipline, with covariance between politics and language as its main subject of research. Political Linguistics should set up its own terminological system based on its new areas of research interest, take political texts and political discourse as its basic research units, and adopt dialogism as its methodology. Political Linguistic research may include two orientations, one of which focuses on linguistics and the other on politics. The research of Political Linguistics of our country should try to make a breakthrough in theoretical construction and application of both orientations.
