Abstract: From a subjective perspective of evidentiality for media information construction in the context of crisis, this paper explores the epistemic stances of evidential forms and the related linguistic practices; it also explains the motivations and pragmatic principles for conducting linguistic regulations by using the “Rapport-management Model”. It is argued that the evidential forms are not possibly the same as the practical sources of information, but spokesmen can better manage interpersonal relations through strategic controls of evidentiality in accordance with the interactive purposes in the context of crisis and the interpersonal pragmatic principles.
