Abstract:Abstract: The present coercion and interaction study between constructions and verbs within the constructional grammar focuses more on the coercion and construal of construction to verbal argument structure and semantic framework, yet there exist two remarkable deficiencies in aspectual coercion: one is an insufficiency of systematic description of aspectual coercion between constructions and verbs, and the other is the lack of dynamic and multi-dimensional analysis of the mismatches of aspectual fusion between constructions and verbs. To solve the problems, this article, applying Croft’s t/q dimensional analysis of aspectual types, gives a comprehensive and dynamic isomorphic description of aspectual coercion and of fusion between Way Construction and different verb types. It is found that under the mismatched fusion between verb aspect and construction aspect, with the aspectual coercion of construction, verbs’ potential aspectual meaning can be activated, which profiles a consistent aspectual meaning with construction, the findings, from the new perspective of aspectual coercion, offer strong evidence for the inner semantic isomorphism between verbs and constructions.
