Abstract:Abstract: The marginalized position of “beggars” closely bears on the media representation of such a dominated group. This study, in the light of the Marginal Discourse Analysis, reveals the underlying discursive ideologies and attitudinal stance by way of analyzing the re-marginalization of this deviant group caused by the improper focus on the negative aspects of their behaviors. It is also found that media discourse, while moving away from the grand narrative tradition and paying special attention to the marginalized community, serve as the tool of stance-taking as well as interpersonal connection and differentiation. The writer appeals for the social commitment to and intervention in public affairs management from both the discourse producers and the discourse analysts.
