Abstract:Abstract: Continuation tasks, which derive from the Xu-argument, take the form of speaking, writing and translating in the way of extension. As they provide a means of enhancing the efficiency of foreign language learning, the tasks have received considerable attention from L2 teachers and become increasingly popular in L2 instruction. In spite of the task popularity, problems have arisen from their applications. In order to bring the tasks into full play, this article makes an attempt to clarify uncertainties and doubts by focusing on issues of general concern.
