Abstract：Abstract: This paper focuses its study on Yu Guangzhong and other nine contemporary translators in the regions of Hong Kong and Taiwan to explore the ideals they share in translation. It is pointed out that their thoughts on translation is language-themed and literature-oriented which can be traced back to their extraordinary gifts for languages. Their approaches towards translation are characterized by their integration of classical Chinese with modern vernacular Chinese in translation, their concern with the degeneration of the Chinese language, their aversion to translationese, and their emphasis on translation practice instead of expounding on translation theories. Besides, the translators held that translating literary works can help realize one’s dream as a writer and spread human civilization. To fulfill these cultural missions, they went all out and offered some translated literary works of high quality, which set an example for young translators.
