Abstract：Abstract: Chinese prosimetric and verse narrative is an important carrier of the unique Chinese folk culture. However, relevant research into its translation has rarely been conducted in the academic field. Guided by the folk narrative framing approach, this article probes into the folk translation thought of Wilt Idema, an outstanding overseas sinologist and translator in this field.The analysis reveals that he uses paratextual devices to achieve value framing, locality framing and contextual framing of folk narrative and thus successfully conveys the diversity and local expressivity of folk culture to the western audience.
