Abstract:The third novel On Beauty created by the British contemporary novelist Zadie Smith in 2005 is a critical writing about the tendency of rigidity in the model of aesthetic experience in the modern world. A good aesthetic experience can be achieved through three phases, aesthetic perception, aesthetic judgment and aesthetic exploration respectively. First, the perception of beauty can be formed by the intuition and the intuition can promote the realization of the common sense of beauty. Then, aesthetic judgment can be achieved through the abandonment of interests symbolized by the wealth, reputation and interpretation of art works and for the feeling of pleasure and freedom triggered by it. At the same time, beauty can be explored through staring, which can give the attribute of beauty mutually through the interaction between the starer and the object of beauty so as to provoke the epiphany of beauty.
