Abstract:Abstract: The literary feature of science-fictions is reflected by its fabulous plots and forecasting view for technology development. The philosophical feature, through bizarre protagonists and plots arrangement, is invariably reflecting the social ethics and criticizing the reality. The successful bridging between the author’s cultural awareness and ethics may depend on metaphors used. The similarity of the signified and the signifier is the cognitive basis for the transfer of metaphor. By analyzing the metaphor in three famous science fictions in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, namely, Frankenstein, Gravity’s Rainbow and Oryx and Crake, we reach the conclusion that metaphor is not the Post-Modernism multiple symbol, but the explicit denouncing of the technology alienation. With the background of technology changing society, re-reading of the classics and obtaining technology ethics value, beyond its literary aesthetic value, is beneficial for the green development of the society.
