Abstract:Abstract: In today’s Chinese academia, while international publishing has increasingly engaged the attention of the humanities scholars, issues concerning the evaluation of international publications have aroused some controversy. Drawing on the writer’s four decades’ experiences of academic exploration, this article addresses the topic from the perspectives of general motivations, values and specific approaches. It is suggested that Chinese scholars, instead of pursuing fame and fortune or making blind decisions in academic endeavor, should stick to their own academic stance, values and value judgment in line with the underlying needs of academic research and communication. With this mindset, they can devote unceasing efforts to international academic exchanges and publication, thereby making their own contributions to academic development.
