Abstract:In the context of strengthening the international communication capacity, it is necessary to encourage international communication orientation in legal translation. It is a basic requirement under the guidance of international communication to pay attention to the subject, purpose and effect in legal translation activities. To improve the international communication efficiency of the rule of law in China, three legal translation thoughts of subjectivity, purpose and effect should be comprehensively applied in legal translation practice. Among them, the subjective thinking focuses on the balance between multiple subjects, the purposive thinking emphasizes the satisfaction of the translator’s needs, and the effective thinking emphasizes the understanding and identification of the target audience. Taking the English translation of “The Civil Code of the PRC” as an example, this study makes a concrete analysis of the connotation and application of the above three translation thoughts, and finds that they have a substantial effect on solving translation problems.
