Abstract:Abstract: Chinese translation of legislative texts of the "Belt and Road" countries is a strategic national translation project to serve the needs of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the strategy on comprehensive law-based governance of the country, and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. Five principles are suggested to be taken into account when choosing legislative texts of the “Belt and Road” countries for translation, viz.: key countries first, key branches of law first, trade orientation, law- making orientation, and database building orientation. The highest goal of the translation of legislative texts is to follow the principle of equal authenticity, which is different from the principle of equivalence, and only parallel texts that have been certified or reviewed through legislative procedures have the equal legal effect.
